I stared at it in astonishment. Huh? I thought she meant that she disbanded me and never wanted to see me again! Maybe she was just shocked, yes, she was shocked, that's all. I wandered over to room 209 and tested out the key, before entering the small flat, dumping my bags and jumping on the bed. Since I slept on the way here twice I was wide-awake, and I couldn't think of anything to do. From being cooped up in vehicles for the past 13 hours I decided to get some fresh air. It would give me time to think about my meeting with Zoey, and try to answer some of the questions that flew through my mind. Wait… I realized there was one big question that needs an answer. Did she still have the mew genes? Then an even bigger question that didn't concern her crossed my mind. Did I still have my mew genes? Of course, in case you didn't know, her genes were a lot bigger than mine, as I was only allowed to be a cat for 10 minutes. I looked down at her number again, and re-read it so many times I memorized it. I lay down on the bed and held it up facing the ceiling, but under the light I noticed something was written on the other side.

Quickly, I turned it over and studied the message carefully; Shift ends at 4:30. Call me. I wondered if she was still going out with Mark. I hate that guy. Still, he might have changed as much as Zoey had. After all, it was five years ago I last saw him. I looked down at my watch. 3:30. I had an hour before I had to call her, so I decided to see if I still had the ability to transform. Carefully, I surfed my mind to remember how to do it, and focused all my mental energy on my body, and concentrated on a black cat, at the same time. All of a sudden, a familiar warm tingly feeling started up in my toes and crept upwards as it spread throughout my whole body. Then a strange sensation of the metaphormosis started in my stomach, probably the worst part of the transformation, and spread through my whole body as I morphed into a cat. When the sensation disappeared I opened my eyes and blinked a few times, to get used to seeing the world through a completely different angle. I could do it still! It was strange though, it wasn't my first time it's just I hadn't done it for four years. Saying four years instead of five because Wesley helped me do the genetics that allow me to stay in this form as long as I want to, instead of just ten minutes. But, after a while I turned into a cat less and less until eventually I got bored and stopped completely.

Until now, of course, that is. Slowly, I padded around on my paws, pacing up and down the room to get used to moving this way. As you can probably guess, it took a while. As soon as I was used to it I transformed back into a human and exited my room, before locking my door behind me and racing off into the bushes. Quickly, once I was sure I was out of sight, I began the metaphormosis again and transformed into a cat. After that I trotted merrily out of the bushes and into what I guessed to be a nearby park.  There was a black rail fence going round the outside and a gravel path going through the middle with a neat row of trees either side, sometimes with the odd bench placed in between. When the path met the fence on the other side it split in two and followed round the edge of the park. On either side of the middle path were two, large grassy fields and kid's playground in one corner. There were also flowers, bushes and shrubs dotted around here and there. I opened my mouth and breathed in the fresh, sweet scent of spring. Then, with a smile as much as a smile can be when you're a cat on my face I trotted off down the path, going nowhere in particular. Every now and again, I'd pause and race off into the bushes, turn back into a human and check my watch, before transforming back into a cat and padding off again. After a bit, by paws started to ache from randomly walking about, so I pounced up on the bench closest to me and sat down, curling my tail round my paws.

"Hello kitty, here kitty, kitty!" I heard a deep, weird kinda voice say softly. Shocked, I nearly jumped out of my skin, realizing I must have fallen into a kitty-snooze. I could feel something stroking my back, and, with horror, realized that the guy was stroking me! Annoyed, I turned around sharply and hissed at the guy as fiercely as I could who dared to lay a finger on me. But as soon as I saw his face I stopped abruptly and wondered if he could see the surprise and disbelief in my eyes. Mark.
